Wetherby and Sedgefield

FIRST of all, I hope all of our blog readers and those who follow our horses had a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas.

We have two runners on the traditionally packed Boxing Day cards, one at Wetherby and the other at Sedgefield after it passed an early inspection due to snow.

VINTAGE GLEN (11.52) gets the ball rolling down at Wetherby in the three-mile 0-105 chase. Before the season started, I mentioned him as a horse who looked like things were finally clicking into gear and his two runs so far have shown that. After being second at Kelso in October he held his form with a run into third at Doncaster four weeks ago. Our new conditional Dylan Johnson took seven off him that day and will partner him again this afternoon.

He was second in this race last year off three pounds lower, but with Dylan’s claim is better off at the weights than he was 12 months ago, we believe he’s improved this season so fingers-crossed he can finally get that win he so deserves.

Over at Sedgefield, CAILIN DEARG (12.15), above, pictured at our owners day a while back, looks to get back-to-back wins after being successful there in a mares’ handicap a few weeks ago. She travelled very strongly that day, we know the track and trip suit her so while she’s gone up 6lbs for the win last time, we’re hoping she can be competitive again.

We will have further runners at Catterick and Kelso later in the week so we’ll update on them in the coming days.
