Wetherby

Pat's Dream at Kelso last month

THREE runners at Wetherby tomorrow, although once again we’ve had to declare two in the same race!

PATS DREAM (2.35) lines up in the 2-mile maiden hurdle just a fortnight on from running at Kelso on the Go North weekend. He travelled strongly that day and looked likely to be involved in the race for the places turning in but faded coming to the last when they quickened up. Bred to get further, the experience won’t be lost on him and hopefully we’ll see a step forward here.

The 4.55 three-mile chase sees both GENTLEMAN DE MAI and COSMIC OUTLAW line up. Firstly, Gentleman comes into it on the back of a much-improved run at Ayr last time, just being beaten a fraction over two lengths. The winner, Prince Dundee, has won again since at Hexham while the third, fourth and fifth have all won since too!

The handicapper has put us up 5lbs for the effort that day, which on the face of it is harsh given he’s only had one run over fences, but the form looks red-hot and hopefully we can keep it going.

Cosmic Outlaw (near side) schooling on Tuesday

Cosmic Outlaw was due to run here last week but we took him out when the rain came and decided to wait for better ground. We’re hoping jumping fences will spark a revival in him and as a former pointer it’s what he was bought to do long-term.

There’s due to be a bit of rain in the run-up to the race but hopefully it won’t change the ground conditions too much because good to soft would be ideal.
