Perth - Shanbally Rose

Shanbally after winning at Perth last September - more of the same would do!

JUST the one runner up at Perth today, with SHANBALLY ROSE (5.06) returning to the kind of track we know suits her. We ran her at Carlisle last time in the hope that she'd take to it, but she didn't enjoy the undulations, twists and turns there. It just seems that the bigger tracks like that don't suit her and flat, sharp, right-handed courses are where she’s seen to best effect, as results around here and Musselburgh testify.

She won over course and distance on good ground at Scone last September, beating a horse of Lucinda Russell’s which opposes again today. There’s been a swing in the weights in their favour this time and there are also a few other consistent types rivalling us. She’s going well at home and with ground conditions fine, we’re hopeful of a decent run. She's the outsider of the field but I have a sneaky feeling she will outrun those odds.
