Perth Finale

IT’S off to Perth for their final two days of the summer - always a sure sign autumn is here, winter is on the way and the main months of the season are approaching fast.

Both of our runners this week come on day one. First we run JACK DEVINE (2.10) who is pitched into a decent grade of race and we’re really eager to get going again with him. He ran a nice race at Ayr in May after a very long layoff but overreached and struck into himself quite badly. Thankfully it missed his tendon but was still bad enough to put paid to the summer campaign we had planned for him.

He’s in good form at home but I would expect him to improve for the run after another absence. Hopefully he’ll come through this race fine and it will put him spot on for other targets further down the line.

SHANBALLY ROSE (3.55) is in great order at home, her last run was a disappointment but before that she’d showed some good form. We know she loves right-handed tracks and while two-and-a-half miles around Perth might be a bit sharp for her, she ran well over that trip at Musselburgh a while back so hopefully she will be competitive.

It’s Dylan Johnston’s first ride back after his leg break - exactly five months since it happened, so he’s done really well to get himself fit for today. Hopefully he stays injury-free this season and has a good year because he’s a talented rider who has become a big part of the team.
