Here Comes The Man

Here Comes The Man (bay) popping over a few fences

HERE COMES THE MAN (2.15) is our sole runner at Newcastle tomorrow, lining up in the three-mile handicap chase with Craig Nichol on board. It’s fair to say he’s not lived up to expectations since joining us a couple of years ago but his run at Ayr back in November was much more like it.

He’s running for the Cheltenham For Breakfast syndicate and nearly kicked them off with a win that day, only going down by under two lengths off top weight. He’s been given a decent break since then because of an infection in his hind leg which sent him to the equine hospital for ten days needing some pretty intensive treatment, but he's been back with us for a while now and is ready to get going once more.

The form of the Ayr race is decent enough, with the winner going in again since and a couple of the ones in behind subsequently winning. He only went up 2lbs so kicks off his chasing career off a mark of 104, which we hope is well within his capabilities.

Obviously he lacks the experience of some others, but hopefully the step back up in trip will unlock some more improvement in him and as an Irish point winner you’d expect him to take to fences and relish the test.

We did have some others entered for this meeting but with the ground changing didn’t declare and hopefully we’ll have a few for Kelso on Monday.
