GoPro Gallops

STEVEN DICKSON who rides out for us at weekends along with his son Jake is a whizz when it comes to using the GoPro camera and his drone so has rustled up a couple of videos to share this weekend.

As you can see, it was another stunning late summer morning here as we worked on the all-weather gallop and hopefully the video will give you a little bit of an insight into what it feels like to be on top of a racehorse cantering up our hill.

Work is continuing apace on the new Wexford sand gallop we’re installing and we expect it to be ready soon. The drone footage below gives a view of where it’s going to be in relation to the rest of the yard and we can’t wait to get it operational.

It will be a fantastic addition to the facilities we have already here and hopefully in time it will prove hugely beneficial to the horses.

We had two runners at Perth last week and were delighted with the way Permission Granted performed. He did well to finish third and hopefully we’ll have a bit of fun with him in the months ahead. Shanbally Rose needed it and had a good blow afterwards, so she will come on for it and we’ll be trying to find the right race for her next time.

We have Definite Wisdom and a new horse Limerick Leader entered at Bangor on Wednesday but it’s not guaranteed we’ll run.

Kelso is also coming up next Sunday and we will have entries there, but a lot will depend on the ground because it has been so dry lately. While it’s great enjoying the last of the summer sunshine, from a racing perspective we could do with a few days of rain to get the ground where we need it to be!
