Doncaster

DEFINITE WISDOM (12.05) is our only runner at Doncaster today. He’s a big price but we’re hoping he will outrun those odds. Although he was beaten a long way the last time at Kelso it was very soft and that didn’t suit him, so we thought that was an okay effort. The race has split, he’s in the first division of it so the ground will be at his best - better than it was at Kelso anyway. Dylan Johnston will ride and take three pounds off as well, which will come in handy.

We’d love to get Dylan his first winner in this country so while the bookies don’t think it will come today, we think there could be an each-way chance!

AAZAA (1.10), above, will go to Catterick on Thursday, which will be a change of track for her after running both times at Hexham so far. She has been given an opening mark of 99 after winning and finishing second there, which we think is fair enough from the handicapper so hopefully she can be competitive again.

It was good to get Rath An Iuir back racing again after a long injury layoff and we were happy enough with the way he ran. They didn’t go particularly quick but he jumped and travelled great before it turned into a bit of a sprint after the third last. That found his fitness out, he blew up at the end and couldn’t go with them. The main thing was there were signs of the old Rathy and there’s every reason to believe he’ll improve a fair bit next time out. He’s come out of it fine so we’ll go to Newcastle on February 1 with him next.
