Carlisle duo

We will have two runners at Carlisle this Saturday.

First up is SLANELOUGH (2.54) who ran very well winning at Newcastle last time out and only went up a pound so if he turns up in the same order you’d hope he’ll have a good chance. It’s another small field and looks very competitive but fingers-crossed he’ll run another good race.

CLIFFS OF DOONEEN (4.39) takes in his first handicap since joining us from Ralph Beckett so it will be a big ask because he’s still a bit novicey with his jumping so that might be evident up against some seasoned handicappers. He’s starting off on a really nice mark, he’s also got Dylan Johnson claiming ten off him so he’ll have a really low weight. But I have to be honest, it wouldn’t surprise me if it takes him another run just to be properly educated enough to go close.

He’s done lots of schooling at home but has taken his time to learn the job and there’s nothing like racing to bring them on and encourage them to get a hang of it.

We are satisfied with the way the horses are running, the ground was against Espoir Moriviere at Hexham so he ran well considering how much it dried out. Aazza was perhaps a shade disappointing at Ayr but has nonetheless had a good first season.
