Wild Polly - Ayr

WILD POLLY (4.45) turns out again relatively quickly to return to Ayr for another mares’ hurdle over 3m tomorrow. She took a step forward 13 days ago, finishing in fifth place but only just over 7 lengths behind, with not much separating the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th horses. The winner that day lines up again here but instead of us giving her four, with Dylan Johnston’s claim we’ll actually be lining up on better terms now.

We know Ayr is a track she likes, the soft ground won’t be a problem and we’re pretty sure she sees out the three miles well - so a few boxes are ticked. A bit like Cailin Dearg the other day at Sedgefield, there’s been enough in her recent performances to hint at a return to form. She will wear cheek pieces and hopefully that helps her an extra few percent.

And with the handicapper giving her a break - she’s a stone below where she was at in December 2022 - it’s all there for her to be competitive if she builds on the last run.
