Racing Is Back - Roll On July!

It has been brilliant to have racing back on this week, even if it is slightly different…  I never thought I’d be excited to watch the all-weather at Newcastle!  And now it’s really hotting up with the Guineas at Newmarket this afternoon.  It’s a really nasty day here today, so I’m looking forward to a cosy afternoon watching that.

Even though they came under much criticism, I think the BHA did a great job in getting us racing again by the 1st of June and fingers crossed it bodes well for the resumption of jumping in July.  The racecourses look much safer places to be right now than a lot of other places, social distancing wise.

We have five horses in training for summer jumping - Ardglass Star, Chosen Flame, Honourable Gent, Jack Devine and Permission Granted.  All we know at the moment is there are fixtures at Southwell, Uttoxeter and Market Rasen in the first ten days of July.  We will find out what the actual races will be next Saturday, so from then on we can start making firmer plans.  Until then we’ll just be fittening them in our normal routine.

Those three courses aren’t very nearby us, but we can also look forward to Perth and Cartmel, which both have fixtures towards the end of the month.

The beginning of July is not far away at all, and we will then of course be starting to think about bringing the winter horses in, and we will be bustling and busy again in no time.  Can’t wait!

It's still holiday time for most of our horses, so above you have Okavango Delta, Last One To Show and Some Reign looking relaxed and happy in the field. They don't know the work starts again soon!
