IT was great to welcome everyone back to the yard on Sunday as the annual owners’ day returned following a year off due to the wretched Covid. Thankfully the rain showers stayed away during the parade, allowing the staff to show off pretty much every horse we've got in this season.
I think everyone agreed that we’ve got them looking in great nick, happy and healthy, and this day every year really whets the appetite for it all to get going. It's great to catch up with so many friends and get dreaming about what lies ahead over the next six months or so.
Afterwards we were able to get back to the garden for an excellent lunch provided by Richard at the Potted Lobster in Bamburgh and although we had a minor scare with a missing wine delivery, Dobbs’ SOS mission to the supermarket worked wonders as all glasses were full. Phew!
We love opening the yard for people to come in and see what we do here. On Tuesday we'll welcome more visitors as part of National Racehorse Week. It's a great initiative and we're expecting around fifty to join us for a tour of the stables, a look at the facilities including our swimming pool then a trip to the gallops to watch the string work. After all that, we'll find time for a coffee, some traybakes and a chat. Hopefully the weather behaves as well as it did yesterday!
