Firth of Forth (near side)
FIRTH OF FORTH (1.05) will be our only runner at Newcastle tomorrow, making his chase debut after two hurdles runs so far this season. Yet to win a race for us, he’s been a consistent sort, finishing second four times. He’s taken a while to come down in the handicap but his current mark of 100 means he’s getting weight from all bar one of his rivals here.
There’s plenty of winning form behind the rest of the field so it’s a competitive race for the grade. He’s built up plenty of experience in 12 starts as a bumper horse and hurdler, so hopefully that will be put to good use over the bigger obstacles now. The trip and ground will be fine.
Our form has turned a bit in the last few days, with Fete Champetre’s win at Musselburgh closely followed by Okovango Delta’s superb run to finish a narrow second at Catterick, so we’re going into races with a bit more confidence than we were at the start of the week!
Firth of Forth has schooled well and while this race will take a bit of winning against some decent opposition, if he takes to fences as we expect him to and off this mark, we’d like to think he’ll be competitive.
