Newcastle

We head to Newcastle with three runners today, CLIFFS OF DOONEEN (2.30) got a bit stuck in the mud last time at Kelso and jumped the hurdles a bit like they were on fire as well! He’s had plenty of practice since so hopefully his hurdling will be a bit slicker this time. He might need another few runs before he fully understands the job but we’re hoping he’ll take a step forward here.

MONFASS (3.05), above, ran really encouragingly at the track last time and Dylan Johnson takes off a further three pounds now he’s got his English licence and is officially attached to the yard, so that should help a bit. He has a good weight and if he turns up today in the same form as last time I’d be pretty hopeful he could go pretty close.

SLANELOUGH (4.50) will be the final one of our trio in what has turned out to be a two-runner race. He’s had a good long break, he’ll be nice and fresh and two miles around here should be perfect for him. Hopefully he’ll run well and can get another win after his success last spring - maybe this is his time of year!

We have been really happy with the way the horses have been running lately, Get With It ran very well the other day and across the board there has been plenty of encouragement.

Firth of Forth had a very strange one the other day at Catterick, going lame behind and being pulled up so we’re keeping tabs on how he is.
