ON Wednesday we will open the doors of Hazelrigg for everyone to come and see what we do here day-to-day with our horses as part of National Racehorse Week. We are one of a number of yards associated with this initiative, which is designed to let the public have a behind-the-scenes look at racing - and hopefully fall more in love with the sport because of it.
All are welcome from 9am onwards and will get to see our 35 horses up close as well as look at the facilities we have here to keep them fit, healthy and happy.
We’ll be having a morning on the gallops, watching some swimming in our indoor pool and also putting the farrier to work to show off his skills.
After all that’s done, we’ll provide coffee, tea and traybakes for everyone.
We’ve done this for a few years now and it has always been a really enjoyable day for everyone attending.
The weather this week is set fair, with plenty of sunshine in the forecast, so hopefully we’ll see as many people as possible - and I’m sure the horses will love showing off to an audience!
Also, with Kelso racing just up the road, it’s the perfect opportunity for anyone who wants to make a whole day of it.
