Shanbally (second) schooling in the indoor ride
FIRST of all a happy new year to everyone - and we celebrate the start of 2023 with two runners at Musselburgh today.
COSMIC OUTLAW (1.00) is the first of them and we have to admit sending him to the Edinburgh course is a bit of an experiment. We are not sure it will suit him but we want to get a bit of better ground - which this will be as Musselburgh soft isn’t the same as soft at some other places - so thought it was worth a try.
He won well at Kelso the last time and has gone up five pounds for that, which is fair. Dylan takes off his ten pounds again so that will be a help. All we can really say is that he’s fit and well - but the outcome will all depend on whether he likes the track.
SHANBALLY ROSE (2.10) is one we don’t have to worry about going to Musselburgh because she’s ran well there before and we know she has to go right-handed. It’s only two-and-a-half miles today, the same trip she was second over in November, and has been given a bit of time to freshen up since her last run at Market Rasen.
We are really happy with her and hopefully she’ll continue her run of consistent efforts at the track. She won’t mind the ground and we’re hoping it being a bit softer might slow down the proper two-and-half milers in the race. So here’s hoping we can get the new year off to a bang with a winner!
