Cartmel and Kelso

IT’s been a quiet spell for the yard at the moment with only three horses in full training right now. That gives us time to get on with the odd jobs around the place, like painting, general maintenance and just sprucing things up for the horses coming back in in a few weeks.

So with a trio of runners coming up we are throwing the whole stable at it over the next three days!

First HITMAN FRED (2.10), above, lines up today at Cartmel, which will be his first trip to the track there. Everyone knows it’s a bit of a specialist’s place but he’s been in good form and there’s no reason for him not to maintain it. The ground will be fine so, fingers crossed, he can keep rolling on.

DO NOT DISTURB (2.32 Kelso) is our next runner. We had entered him in two races but have decided to go for the open handicap even though it has more runners. The novice handicap was an option but it looked a bit more competitive. I hope I’ve made the right decision - time will tell!

He’s done so well winning twice in his last three runs so we will make sure the ground is right for him because the last thing we want to do is jar him up at this stage when there is plenty to look forward to. If it’s not right for him we’ll just bring him home and take his shoes off.

Do Not Disturb has always been a lovely horse so we’re just so excited he’s come good now over fences.

ARDGLASS STAR (1.50 Cartmel) has been declared to run on Monday - there are stacks of entries in the race at the moment so there is a chance the race may divide. We were encouraged by his fifth at Newcastle back in April, he had a wind op a while back and hopefully the fruits of that are starting to show.

We had a busy week at the sales over the last week. We bought two unbroken store horses as well as four horses from the point-to-point field.

Three of them are for mum and dad, while the others are for sale.

We will update next week with the full profiles to give you the lowdown on the exciting new arrivals for next season.
